The University of Louisiana at Lafayette provides library facilities to support its education, research, and public service missions. The Edith Garland Dupre Library building is centrally situated on the main campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The Library is open to students, faculty, staff, and the public. The mission of the Edith Garland Dupre Library, as an integral part of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, is to support fully the instructional and research programs of the University by providing access to information through the teaching, acquisition, organization, and preservation of information resources in all forms to the University’s academic community, the region, and the state.
Edith Garland Dupre Library is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s primary repository for information resources and services. The Library houses the main collections, periodicals, in all formats, microform resources, and multimedia materials. The Special Collections Department provides unique materials useful for research. The Louisiana Room is a depository for Louisiana State Documents and houses other materials relating to the state. Open an average of ninety hours per week during semesters, including evenings and weekends, the Library provides university and community users access to both traditional and electronic resources. Many of the online databases provide full-text format, with off-site access available for students, faculty, and staff. For students, faculty, and other university employees, the Interlibrary Loan Department obtains items that are not available in the Library’s collection or accessible from the Library’s online databases.
Public access computer stations are available in the Research Department for searching the online catalog and online databases. The Library’s Ask a Librarian service provides virtual research assistance. Research inquiries can be made in person, by telephone, via live chat, texting, e-mail, or Skype. Links to the Dupre News blog and social networking accounts are posted on the Library website.
