All first-time freshmen applicants must meet the following:
In-State:
- 19 ACT Math or 510 SAT Math
- 18 ACT English or 500 SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing
- 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Complete the Louisiana Board of Regents Core 4 Curriculum (19 units) with a 2.5 core GPA
- Core GPA requirement is waived if the applicant has a 23 ACT Composite or 1130 SAT Composite
Out-of-State or Home School:
- 19 ACT Math or 510 SAT Math
- 18 ACT English or 500 SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing
- 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Plus one of the following:
- Meet all Louisiana resident requirements
- Complete 17+ units of the Louisiana Board of Regents Core 4 Curriculum with a 2.5 core GPA and a 23 ACT Composite or 1130 SAT Composite
- 26 ACT Composite or 1230 SAT Composite
All transfer applicants must meet the following:
To be eligible for admission, a transfer applicant must be eligible to return to the last institution attended and one of the following:
- Must have earned an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
- Earned 24 hours or more (excluding developmental/remedial courses):
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher (excluding developmental/remedial courses)
and
- Must have successfully completed both college-level freshman English (non-remedial) and college algebra (non-remedial) with a grade of C or better.
- Earned fewer than 24 hours (excluding developmental/remedial courses):
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 (excluding developmental/remedial courses)
and
- Meet all other admissions standards for first-time freshmen.
All re-entry applicants must have at least a 1.5 cumulative GPA.
International applicants must meet the criteria above (based on student admission type) as well as English language proficiency requirements.

Students who do not meet the stated criteria but who wish to attend UL Lafayette are invited to apply for Admission by Exception Committee. In reviewing these applications, the Admission by Exception Committee looks beyond the basic numeric criteria and gives particular attention to factors such as the quality of the student’s curriculum, GPA, special talents, extracurricular activities, teacher recommendations, leadership abilities, and membership in an under-represented group. In all cases, the committee’s overriding consideration will be the student’s potential to succeed in the UL Lafayette academic environment.
