Your Cajun Card will be the most important thing in your wallet during your time at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
First and foremost, it serves as your student ID. But the Cajun Card is also your free season pass to all Ragin’ Cajun® home games (when available), gives you admission to campus events, is your library card, meal card, building, lab, and parking pass, and gets you discounts at tons of different stores and restaurants around campus.
In addition to all that, you can load it up with Cajun Cash and use it like a debit card on campus and at a select list of off-campus favorite shops.
To receive a Cajun Card, you must be a registered student or an employee of the University. All you need to bring is a form of picture ID and a Ragin’ Cajun smile. Processing time will take approximately 2 minutes.

The Child Development Center provides the highest quality childcare and preschool services for the children of students, faculty and staff of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Our dedicated staff of childcare professionals nurture and care for infants aged twelve months through six years in our multi-classroom building located near campus on East Lewis Street.

University Connection provides access to hundreds of UL Lafayette’s classes, as well as non-traditional academic programs, to individuals for academic credit, but not currently seeking a degree. We are the gateway to higher education for non-traditional students, offering a simplified admission process.
University Connection extends educational opportunities to individuals whose age, location, or employment circumstances prevent enrollment in traditional degree-seeking programs. We serve students through different programs, such as the High School Dual Enrollment program and the DOORS (Diversified Opportunities for Older and Returning Students) Program, which provides services to non-degree seeking applicants who are 21 years of age of older.
University Connection also provides educational opportunities for post-baccalaureates, auditors, and professionals seeking further study in their fields.

The Office of Professional and Continuing Education, OPCE, is focused on providing executive professional, career and business professional learning opportunities to adult learners. Our department is positioned to create partnerships within the University, business, and professional community that will reinvest in education through robust learning opportunities.
Professional learning will be designed primarily with a virtual footprint, with a smaller presence of face-to-face training. Professional learning courses will be designed to energize employee-employer skills management in high-need, targeted areas. OPCE will provide a digital presence that will expand the University’s posture within the region, State, and global community. Courses will be open to the adult learning population at large. In addition, courses can be customized to meet employee-specific skills training for the corporate or business community.
Virtual learning courses will be authentic and engaging for the adult learner. Courses will be delivered using a learning management platform that will allow for increased outreach and flexibility. Courses will be needs-driven to revitalize employee-employer skills management. Our instructors will be experienced and credentialled in their areas of expertise. Course completions will include continuing learning units or badging options. In addition to virtual learning courses, face-to-face courses will be provided when course content is more conducive to an in-person learning environment.

The Counseling and Testing Center provides personal counseling, crisis intervention, and short-term psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. The Center offers an unlimited number of sessions, FREE-of-charge to University students, faculty, and staff. Consultation services and workshops are available to student groups, faculty, and staff.

The Department of Special Services is home to TRIO, a group of federally funded programs that help first-generation and low-income students reach their full academic potential. At UL Lafayette, we’ve been providing these services since 1972 and have helped nearly 10,000 students as they pursue a college degree. Right now, our programs serve nearly 2,000 students throughout Acadiana and at the University with free services to those who qualify.
We believe in an early start, so we work with students in the sixth grade and continue through a doctoral education.
As a TRIO participant, our services will help guide students to academic success. We will listen carefully and provide answers to give students the best opportunities while pursuing their degree and preparing for their future career. We feel very strongly about the services we offer and the environment that we provide. Our doors are always open and our staff is always ready to serve.

Information Technology provides, supports, and enhances computing and networking facilities which serve the academic and administrative needs of the University with emphasis on those which benefit multiple academic disciplines or administrative subunits. More specifically, Information Technology:
- establishes policies and procedures which promote equitable access to computing for campus users and appropriate use of campus technology;
- maintains the Information Technology infrastructure continuity plan;

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Marine Survival Training Center trains personnel from the petroleum, aviation and maritime industries in emergency procedures and use of the lifesaving equipment available to them.
Our mission is to provide the best marine safety training available by using state-of-the-art facilities and experienced, motivated instructors. MSTC has operated as a self-funded department of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and have trained over 500,000 students since its inception in 1988.
Military Science Program/ROTC
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a partnership program with Louisiana State University (LSU) ROTC. Although UL’s ROTC Program has existed in some form or fashion since the 1970s, our tradition of commissioning officers through our relationship with LSU is very proud, long and honored - having commissioning graduates for service in the Armed Forces of the United States for more than a century. LSU and UL Lafayette students and alumni have served this Nation faithfully both in periods of crisis and times of peace.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the United States Army uphold this shared tradition of excellence through the University’s ROTC academic Department of Military Science. This department benefits the students of UL Lafayette by providing them the opportunity to qualify for a military commission while they are also pursuing their college degrees.
The primary ROTC objectives are:
- to enroll and motivate officer candidates;
- to provide academically centered courses of study, which broaden students’ appreciation of and dedication to American principles;
- to develop students’ abilities as leaders and managers;
- and to motivate students to reach their full potential as officers.
The goal of the ROTC program is to commission men and women who show leadership potential, have completed ROTC program requirements, and have earned a college degree.
Working together through the ROTC program, the University and the Armed Forces contribute to a common national objective of infusing young people with personal integrity, honor, personal pride, and a desire to serve the nation and the community as effective citizens.

- The UL Lafayette Campus Cupboard is a wonderful resource for students, faculty, and staff who need help. They can always use volunteers and donations.
- New Hope Community Development of Acadiana has great opportunities for tutoring young children.
- Catholic Charities of Acadiana have plenty of opportunities with sites like St. Joseph’s Diner for an individual or small group to make a difference and do good.
- Want the perfect spring or summer day? Volunteer with our Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.
- The United Way of Acadiana always has a thing or two happening.
UL Lafayette AmeriCorps

UL Lafayette AmeriCorps is a national community service program that lets you serve your community while earning money for school.
We are the only university-based AmeriCorps program in the state of Louisiana. Our projects focus on housing and environmental needs in our community. Members of our 30-person team work with Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Moncus Park, and The Office of Sustainability on campus. UL Lafayette AmeriCorps members also volunteer with dozens of other non-profit organizations in our community.
Since 1996, we have had more than 800 students complete our AmeriCorps program, contributing more than 16 million hours of service to Acadiana and Louisiana. In that time we have helped to improve local education, housing, disaster response, the environment, and even established Lafayette’s own prom dress drive and giveaway, the Cinderella Project.
Becoming a member of the AmeriCorps team is extremely competitive. We seek to put together a diverse team. Our Corps members must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and able to multitask. AmeriCorps members must be open to learning and challenging themselves. If you hold these characteristics and have the desire to serve your community, then AmeriCorps is for you!
