Healthcare delivery, professional ethics, the health information management professional, health information management organizations, components of a complete record, statistical analyses, numbering, filing, data needs across the continuum, registries, preservation and retention of records, the Patients’ Index, role of the Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies and the medical staff.
Prereq: BIOL 318 , HIM 361 , LCHI 207 , and LCHI 303 with a grade of “C” or better Coreq: HIM 323 , HIM 461 , and LCHI 473 Rstr: HIM majors only. Completion of all courses in the Freshman and Sophomore curriculum with a minimum grade of “C” in each course and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
