1 Students who meet criteria set by the Department of Mathematics may register for MATH 270  upon entry. Those who do not meet these qualifications must take MATH 143 . Students are advised to complete this course in the summer semester prior to the freshman year.

2 With approval of the Department of Geology, TWO of the following may be substituted for MATH 301  :STAT 427G , STAT 428G , or ENVS 455G  and ENVS 464G , provided that the student satisfies core curriculum requirements by taking six hours of mathematics. NOTE: most graduate programs and many professional careers require the second calculus course.
