Career Opportunities
The Bachelor of General Studies prepares qualified graduates to gain positions in a variety of industries: pharmaceutical, retail, petroleum, telecommunications, and healthcare to name a few. Some enter a variety of post-baccalaureate programs (e.g., teacher certification), professional programs (e.g., medicine, law, social work), or graduate programs such as counseling, psychology, speech pathology, engineering, public health, public administration, and business administration.

The Bachelor of General Studies is awarded upon completion of the following requirements:

  • General Education Core Curriculum (39 credit hours)
  • Concentration (24 credit hours)
  • Enrichment Area (36 credit hours)
    • Enrichment Area 1 (12 credit hours)
    • Enrichment Area 2 (12 credit hours)
    • Enrichment Area 3 (12 credit hours)
  • Electives (21 credit hours)

Recommended completion in the Freshman Year.

One (1) three credit hour elective course must be designated as writing intensive, unless such a course is applied elsewhere in the curriculum. Selection of the writing intensive course and the minor area should be done in consultation with the academic advisor.

Recommended completion in the Junior Year.

  • Choose from computer science (CMPS) or departmental approved computer literacy courses. Credit may be earned through a computer science proficiency exam.
