Description:
Chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, and biology courses providing special training in the creation and/or operation of processes linked to bio conversion of raw materials into valuable products such as pharmaceuticals, green chemicals, and renewable energy. Two concentration course pathways are identified for students interested in (1) biomedical applications and (2) bioprocessing associated with pharmaceutical operations, biomass conversion into energy and products, and fermentation applications.
Career Opportunities:
Oil and gas industry, refineries, petrochemical, pulp and paper, textile, plastic pharmaceutical cosmetics, or food processing industries.
Note(s):
Students should select identified courses based on their area of interest:
1 Biomedical applications
2 Bioprocessing associated with pharmaceutical operations, biomass conversion into energy and products, and fermentation applications
• A grade of “C” or better is required in all courses in the College of Engineering and the College of Sciences that are used toward the degree.
• A minimum of 2.0 cumulative average (major GPA) is required on all hours attempted in the major department (CHEE) and engineering courses that apply toward the degree.
• Students are responsible for completing all course prerequisites before enrolling in a course.
