Biology, BS, Veterinary Bioscience Concentration

Career Opportunities:
Entry into veterinary professional school (for Dr. of Veterinary Medicine) or graduate school (M.S. or Ph.D.), veterinary assistant, animal care, federal and state government laboratories and agencies, forensic laboratories, and zoological parks.
Note(s):
  • A grade of “C” or better is required in all MATH and BIOL courses applicable to the degree.
  • A minimum of 45 credit hours of 300/400-level courses must be taken to meet graduation requirements.

1  Students not qualified for MATH 143 must take MATH 109 and MATH 110 before advancing to MATH 250. Qualified students should take MATH 270 in lieu of MATH 250.

2  Students must complete one of the following courses which place an emphasis on writing: BIOL 307BIOL 309BIOL 321BIOL 337BIOL 345BIOL 360BIOL 362, BIOL 370BIOL 407GBIOL 409GBIOL 412GBIOL 415GBIOL 424GBIOL 429G, BIOL 430GBIOL 435BIOL 437G, BIOL 440GBIOL 441GBIOL 445G, BIOL 455GBIOL 471G, or BIOL 485G. This course can be used to satisfy other curriculum requirements, as appropriate.

Students must complete one of the following courses that place an emphasis on quantitative training in Biology: BIOL 307BIOL 360, BIOL 362BIOL 401GBIOL 405GBIOL 407GBIOL 409GBIOL 412GBIOL 414GBIOL 416GBIOL 424GBIOL 426GBIOL 427GBIOL 431GBIOL 437G, BIOL 440GBIOL 441GBIOL 443GBIOL 444G, BIOL 446G, or BIOL 458G. This course can be used to satisfy other curriculum requirements, as appropriate. Other courses, including advanced Math and Statistics courses, can be used to fulfill this requirement with the approval of the department head.

Students interested in Veterinary School are encouraged to complete BIOL 410 BIOL 417 , a second PHYS Lab, and courses in BADM and MGMT.

Choose any 300/400-level BIOL course for majors.
