Freshman Year
MODL
- MODL 101 - Elective 4 Credits.
- MODL 102 - Elective 3 Credits.
Choose from FREN, GERM, or SPAN in consultation with academic advisor. All MODL course requirements must be completed in a single foreign language.
BHSC (3 Credits)
Choose from anthropology, criminal justice, economics, geography, political science, psychology, or sociology. NOTE: at least three hours of BHSC electives must be at the 200 level or above. MATH (3 Credits)
Choose from SCI (3 Credits)
SCI electives to be chosen from both biological (BIOL) and physical (CHEM, GEOL, or PHYS) sciences, two courses of which must be from the same science. MODL
- MODL 201 3 Credits.
- MODL 202 3 Credits.

ENGL (6 Credits)
Choose any two ENGL 200-level courses. Students eligible for ENGL 215 and ENGL 216 may use these courses to fulfill 6 hours of this requirement.
PHIL (3 Credits)
Choose any PHIL course.
SCI (6 Credits)
SCI electives to be chosen from both biological (BIOL) and physical (CHEM, GEOL, or PHYS) sciences, two courses of which must be from the same science. BHSC (3 Credits)

Linguistics (6 Credits)
A total of 12 hours of Linguistics courses are required; choose from ARTS (3 Credits)
In consultation with advisor, choose from DANC, MUS, THEA, or VIAR. ENGL (3 Credits)
Choose ENGL 200 or 300 level course for a total of 9 hours.
ENGL (3 Credits)
Choose from ENGL 400 level courses. At least 12 hours of ENGL 400 level courses are required (exclusive of ENGL 490 ); these hours may be partially satisfied with linguistics courses and the pre-1800 literature course.
CMCN (3 Credits)
Students who take ENGL 360 or ENGL 365 may count this course toward their major. They must take an additional free elective to make up the course hours.
Choose from Minor (6 Credits)
Choose electives to complete 18-hour minor. Six of these must be 300 level or above.
ENGL (3 Credits)
Choose from ENGL 400 level courses. At least 12 hours of ENGL 400 level courses are required (exclusive of ENGL 490 ); these hours may be partially satisfied with linguistics courses and the pre-1800 literature course.
