Admission to the University

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette seeks to admit students whose intellectual and creative ability, past academic performance, and motivation signal their aptitude to succeed in higher education. Admissions criteria include previous academic preparation and performance, as well as other scholastic measures, such as ACT or SAT scores. Students who do not fully meet the University’s admissions criteria but who believe that they are prepared to succeed at UL Lafayette are invited to apply for admission through Admission by Exception Committee. The University serves a diverse student population and welcomes applications from all interested students, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or marital status.

Students who seek to enroll in the University as degree-seeking undergraduates may apply in one of the three basic admissions categories: 1) first-time freshman student; 2) transfer student; and 3) re-entry student.  International applicants may be considered in the three categories as well. In addition to the regular admission process, the University admits students through special non-degree-seeking programs: Special Students, Post-Baccalaureate Student, Visiting Student, DOORS Student, and High School Dual Enrollment.

A detailed explanation of admissions criteria and procedures can be found in the Undergraduate Admissions to the University section of this catalog .
