HIM 321 - Foundations of Health Information Management 3 Credit Hour(s) 3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s) The health information management profession, professional ethics, health information management organizations, data governance, registries, components of a complete health record, statistical analysis, preservation and retention of records, the master patient index, role of the Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies and the medical staff.
Prereq: HIM 361 , LCHI 207 , and LCHI 303 with a “C” or better. Coreq: IPHE 310 , HIM 323 , HIM 431 , HIM 460 , and LCHI 466 Rstr: HIM majors only. Completion of all courses in the Freshman and Sophomore curriculum with a minimum grade of “C” in each course and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
