Freshman Year (31 credit hours)
Modern Language
- MODL 101 - Elective 4 Credits
- MODL 102 - Elective 3 Credits
Choose from FREN, GERM, or SPAN in consultation with academic advisor. All MODL course requirements must be completed in a single foreign language.
Social/Behavioral Sciences (3 Credits)
Choose from the General Education Core Curriculum list of Social/Behavioral Science courses. Three hours must be at the 200-level or above.
Sophomore Year (32 credit hours)

English Literature (6 Credits)
Choose any two sophomore surveys (ENGL 201 , ENGL 202 , ENGL 205 , ENGL 206 ) and any other ENGL 200 or 300 level course for a total of 9 hours. Students eligible for ENGL 215 and ENGL 216 may take these courses instead of the sophomore surveys.
Philosophy (3 Credits)
PHIL 202 is recommended.
Social/Behavioral Sciences (3 Credits)
Choose from the General Education Core Curriculum list of Social/Behavioral Science courses. Three hours must be at the 200-level or above.

Junior Year (30 credit hours)
English Literature (3 Credits)
Choose any two sophomore surveys (ENGL 201 , ENGL 202 , ENGL 205 , ENGL 206 ) and any other ENGL 200 or 300 level course for a total of 9 hours. Students eligible for ENGL 215 and ENGL 216 may take these courses instead of the sophomore surveys.
English Literature (6 Credits)
Choose from ENGL 300 level or above courses. At least 12 hours of ENGL 400 level courses are required (exclusive of ENGL 490 ); these hours may be partially satisfied with Shakespeare and the Major Figures course.
Communication (3 Credits)
Students who take ENGL 360 or ENGL 365 may count this course toward their major. They must take an additional free elective to make up the course hours.
