Admissions Requirements

In addition to the general admission requirements of the Graduate School, admission to the graduate program in Educational Leadership requires:

1. Letter of recommendation from principal or supervisor authorizing release time and opportunities to perform leadership projects;
2. Two additional letters of recommendation from colleagues who can speak to issues identified in the application form such as commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;
3. Resume;
4. Valid teaching certificate;
5. A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience;
6. A letter of intent setting forth vision as school leader.

Course Requirements

Students are admitted into cohorts that begin a two year program in the fall of each year. Students enroll in six hours of course credit each fall, spring and summer for a total of 36 hours. The courses include:

• EDLD 500 - Vision, Leadership and School Culture Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 501 - Using Data to Effect Change Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 502 - Legal, Regulatory, and Ethical Issues Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 504 - Using Research to Lead Change Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 505 - Curriculum for Education Leaders Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 506 - Assessment and Instruction for Educational Leaders Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 507 - Internship Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 508 - Systems Alignment Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 509 - Change, Transition, and Evaluation Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 510 - Organizing the Learning Environment Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 511 - Community Engagement Credit Hours: 3
• EDLD 512 - Capstone Internship Credit Hours: 3
