Nurses currently holding a Master of Science degree in nursing from a nationally accredited graduate nursing program and a national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner are eligible to apply to the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Post-Master’s Certificate (PMC) program.
The PMHNP PMC program is accelerated, offering completion in four semesters. The didactic courses are offered online, and clinical courses have an online didactic component plus direct patient care clinical experiences (120 - 210 hours in each course) in which the student works with an approved advanced practice preceptor guided by graduate faculty.
The PMHNP PMC program is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (https://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
Graduates of the PMHNP PMC program are eligible to sit for the National PMHNP certification examination and apply for an advanced practice PMHNP license.
