Online Management Program
The online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management is designed as a pathway for students with college credit to complete their bachelor’s degree while balancing other responsibilities. This program is not open to first-time freshmen. All applicants must have either:
- earned an associate degree (non-technical) or higher from a regionally accredited institution,
OR have earned 30 hours or more with:
- A cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher (excluding developmental/remedial courses),
AND
- Completion of 6 hours of non-remedial college-level freshman English and non-remedial college algebra, each with a grade of “C” or better.
The Program Advisor will evaluate all transcripts for required course and hour completion prior to admission.
Minors
The B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration offers several minors for business and non-business majors. Following are the minors and their requirements:
Procedures
Transfer Credit
The Admissions Office determines which transfer courses are acceptable to the University. The appropriate Department Head with the approval of the Dean then determines which of these courses are acceptable for degree credit in the College of Business Administration. Transfer courses are evaluated on the same basis as courses taken in residence. Courses taken prior to attending UL Lafayette at regionally accredited institutions of higher learning will be accepted toward a degree at the level in which they were completed if they are comparable with the courses in the student’s curriculum. Technical courses leading to a two-year associate degree or to a four-year technical degree are not accepted. Business courses at or above the 300 level will be accepted toward a degree only if they are taken in a business program accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), https://www.aacsb.edu/.
Once a student is admitted to the College of Business, no further transfer credit for business courses will be accepted toward a degree unless written permission to take specific courses is obtained from the student’s Department Head and Dean prior to enrolling in courses off campus. Business coursework in which the student makes less than a “C” grade is not acceptable as a transfer credit. Any business coursework that resulted in a grade of “D” or less while in residence must be repeated at UL Lafayette. Exceptions may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
Catalog Requirements
Transfer students must fulfill catalog requirements in effect at the time of their transfer. This applies to all students who transfer from another university or from another college at UL Lafayette.
Students transferring from one department to another within the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration (i.e., changing majors within the College) may petition the Assistant Dean for Student Services to remain under their original catalog requirements so long as they have been continuously enrolled in the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration and otherwise are eligible to do so.
Specific Degree Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from the College requires an overall 2.0 GPA; a grade of “C” or better in each major course (including major electives) each common body of knowledge (CBK) course, required business elective courses, any required written communication courses, and major auxiliary courses, with the exception of QMET 352 , taught within the College of Business; and a minimum of 120 semester hours.
Students are responsible for reporting to their departmental office their graduation plans prior to the final year of study. Final graduation review and clearance is provided by the Dean’s Office, Office of Student Services.
All graduating seniors must take the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Business Field Examination or other assessment exams specified by the College.
At least forty-five hours of course work at the 300-400 level must be satisfactorily completed. The forty-five hours can include business as well as non-business courses. Developmental courses cannot be used toward a degree.
Selection of electives must follow University regulations. In general, electives may not be courses which are prerequisite to or which contain subject material on a more elementary level than courses already completed or required in the student’s curriculum.
Internships
Students are encouraged to pursue internship opportunities in their major field of study during their junior and senior years. The College has a large network of companies where students can learn more about their chosen careers and various jobs available to them upon graduation. Resources available to students seeking internships include a designated internship advisor for each major area of study within the college, a graduate student internship coordinator, and a faculty internship director. Credit for internships is granted as business electives only with the prior approval of the major department’s internship advisor and the college’s internship director. All internships include a required academic component and a minimum number of work hours. Only three hours of credit for internships apply toward the student’s degree program. Students must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.2 to participate in an internship.
Common Body of Knowledge
All baccalaureate students in the B. I. Moody III College of Business Administration must complete a Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), consisting of the following courses: ACCT 201 , ACCT 202 , ECON 201 , ECON 202 ,QMET 251 , MGMT 320 , MKTG 345 , FNAN 300 ; BLAW 310 ; and MGMT 490 .
